Regardless of how you are using OCR and machine learning to parse syllabi make opening and remixing of course material a major goal.

@jaytiesse Just came across your and the @metalabharvard project in a thread about Open Syllabi. I have been pushing folks to keep syllabi as plain html as possible and use microformats2 versus more complex markup suggested by schema.org
Couldn’t agree more. It’s currently difficult to extract good quality data out of syllabi but Curricle is working to do so with Canvas, all the same. One problem is the variety of syllabus types, not to mention the markup issues.
