microformats is a broken fork of the "RDF in HTML" initiative. RDFa emerged as it fit the Web architecture/goals, and became part of the family of W3C Recommendations. Given mf1's limitations, mf2 tried to mimic RDFa; ended up not being backwards compatible with mf1.
Will agree on mf2 and microformats. Causes bunch of clean up headaches in WordPress themes.

Yeap, mf1-to-mf2 is a longevity ( w3.org/People/Bos/Des… ) fail all within ~5 years. Those things happened simply because while mf on paper is an “open” community, in practice it was/is hierarchical / centralised development.
Okay found indieweb.org/RDF and yes it does open with a bit of Snark for bot fun in chat. I agree maybe not the best approach when describing a web standard widely adopted. (jgregorymcverry.com/4743-2/)
Sure, if the values are upheld in practice. Then again, those values are not unique to IW, and many of us have been practicing (technically/evangelism) far before IW… all meanwhile promoting the type of consensus and architecture that W3C offers, instead of clear out rejecting
Part baggage is outlined here: microformats.org/wiki/namespace… but it was quickly handwaved b/c ignorance on the matter is easier to govern. Related: microformats.org/wiki/namespaces (originally before getting redirected!) is anecdotal evidence meanwhile the world still runs on ns. Hmmm?
Thank you for the conversation this morning. Need to go feed my kids, but yes #IndieWeb willing to ignore the way rest of the world to things to build our little corner of the web. Hopefully everything stays interoperable (jgregorymcverry.com/4748-2/)

Cool will find you on freenode. I am @jgmac1106 there as well. Always happy to learn more, but it is the values more than tech that draw me to #IndieWeb (jgregorymcverry.com/4741-2/)
